Description and Role
The Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) is an independent, non-profit research organization founded in 1948, specializing in energy research. With around 600 employees and an annual turnover of €100M, IFE is involved in approximately 50 European projects, including 15 as coordinator. Its Battery Materials Department focuses on anode materials for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, and interface research.
The Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) coordinates the SPRINT project, applying its expertise in battery research to develop sodium-ion energy storage solutions. IFE leads the definition of technical specifications and test protocols, ensuring performance, safety, and scalability. It is also responsible for developing hard carbon anode materials and initial battery scale up using the infrastructure. With extensive experience in battery materials and solid-state research, IFE supports collaboration and technological advancements in the project.
