Description and Role

Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ) is a member of the Helmholtz Association with roughly 7,120 employees. FZJ conducts research into the possibilities of a digitized society, a climate-friendly energy system, and a resource-efficient economy. Research in the Institute of Energy Technologies (IET-3) is aimed towards applying computational and physics-aware modeling techniques, data intelligence, and AI/ML models to understand and accelerate materials-to-device integration for novel electrochemical energy technologies.

FZJ-IET-3 will be involved in several task activities such as materials optimization, compatibility assessment, and data management for operando, and in-situ characterisation data. In particular, FZJ-IET-3 will lead modelling of interfaces stability (Leading T3.4), cell level modelling as well as leading development and deployment of digital tools, including digital twins for devices and process upscaling (Leading T4.2). These tasks will be closely supported by utilizing AI-enabled cloud platform (vimilabs.com) for end-to-end data management and a highly scalable model engine.
